It was a warm Saturday afternoon in South Boston. Joey had a rare Saturday off from bartending, and Taylor, having recently moved to the area, was at a picnic looking to meet new people. As fate would have it, Joey decided to bring his dog/world fetch champion, Ace, to the same picnic. Ace knew exactly what he was doing as he lured Taylor over to tap Joey on his shoulder, Excuse me, Im sorry, but is that your dog...? They proceeded to bond over their Florida roots and mutual associations, which led to several dates around the city.
BUT the timing wasn’t right and Taylor wasn’t the biggest fan of Boston. She moved back to D.C. the first chance she got. End of story...
Until, a year and half later they would reconnect over what else but Game of Thrones memes? Joey would make a couple strategic trips to DC, making sure to connect with Taylor each time. The two quickly came to realize their love for each other, and later that summer they made things official.
Over the next several months the couple continued to grow their relationship over long distance, as Joey was still living in Boston. Eventually, slightly nudged by the pandemic, Joey moved to DC and they bought their first home together. The duo enjoyed their time in DC, getting to know each others friends and loved ones, but it was short-lived as Taylors business school aspirations moved them to Ann Arbor, MI.
Michigan will always be special to Taylor and Joey. It was there that they made lifelong friends, traveled the world, learned to snowboard and continued to traverse lifes many challenges, only growing closer. On Thanksgiving 2023, with the blessing of Taylor’s wonderful mother Patricia, Joey popped the big question, and Taylor joyfully said yes!
Now the couple has made Chicago their home and have spent the last year getting to know the windy city, while continuing to build on their foundation. They couldn’t be more excited to welcome their family and closest friends to the city to celebrate their special day!
